Welcome to Sean-nós Southwest, the home of Traditional Irish dance in San Diego.
Sean-nós dance is a form of percussive dance, most prevalent in Connemara, that emphasizes rhythm, self-expression and an integral connection to live Irish traditional music. Generally performed informally, it is mostly danced at private and semi-private gatherings, house or pub based Irish music sessions, and community celebrations such as weddings: wherever there is Irish music and a decent floor.
Sean-nós Southwest will be offering dance classes, taught by Ben Power, workshops with visiting teachers as we can arrange, and informal Irish music and dance parties where dancers have a chance to enjoy dancing to live Irish music.
Be sure to check the schedule change this month. We've had to move one of the Saturday classes and shift some dates around. |
